I voted regular, but you put down nominate species. Tahoe is lucida pacific, so technically he is a subspecies rather then nominate.

He is a regular green though... I love mutations but prefer not to support them.

Denise are you feeding any pellets to your Parrotlets? Mutations and nominate?

I just got some Foundation Formula and my Piper (mutation) and Toby (normal) seem to love them. Which is a dilemma for me since I dont currently feed pellets. They eat a good diet and alot of fresh foods but still...I'm wondering if they would benefit from these ingredients. Maybe in birdy bread or wet.....since drinking excessive water is what seems to be the problem in Parrotlets and pellets....

100% Certified Organic Ingredients: Corn, Wheat, Barley, Alfalfa Leaf Powder, Amaranth, Roasted Peanuts, Sesame Seeds, Millet, Quinoa, Dandelion, Rosemary, Chlorella, Barley Grass, Wheat Grass, Purple Dulse, Beet Root, Spinach Leaf, Rose Hips, Citrus Peels.

Guaranteed Analysis: Fat 5.5% min. Protein 15.3% min. Crude Fiber 5.5% max.

My p'lets have never been big on pellets... and I have never fed the colored pellets.... I have tried many different kinds... but the pellets always seem to be left or tossed. I have put them in my bread. ( I have to do something with all that I have bought..LOL)
Let me know how yours like the pellets...Maybe I wil try them. I have never fed any of my birds just pellets... My Linnies would not hear of it...LOL

But what you have described sound very interesting... Do they have color added to them? I read a while back the especially in the blue mutations... they were having health issues with the colored pellets.... I have not had any experience with this myself...but then again... mine have really never taken to pellets as it is.
Let me know how yours like it... inquiring minds need to know...LOL

WEll they are like crack heads with these stupid pellets! I'm in a quandry now! I posted a thread on the holistic forum called Foundation Formula. You can read how they act with them. I just cannot believe how much they LOVE LOVE LOVE them. It's too wierd.

They DO prefer strong flavors, both the normal and the mutation. Like Kale over escarole for example. But I really had no intention of feeding pellets especially to the mutation. Perhaps I'll just give a small amount a day...I havent decided yet...

Thing I like about Foundation Formula is that it comes in original and spicers (aka jalepino flavoring, LOL). Great to add some variety. Thanks for telling us how they are liking it, as I have been debating on whether to switch my guys to Foundation or TOP
