Tell that to all the avian vets, lol Moron.
Or for that matter tell that to PetSmart. They can than take all there quarantine sign down after all bird no longer get diseases....
funny you mention that. This guy actually brought up petsmart in his argument. he said "if you look hard enough, you'll find something that isnt there." I wonder if at any point someone who opens a pet store actually cares about the animals first?

Wow, so we should really be studying parrots now since after all just taken them out of the wild has eliminated all disease, what a miraculous cure! They must be the only life form on the entire planet to not get diseases anymore. Was he even listening to himself?

I think they ask for such high prices out of ignorance. Years ago parrots were very expensive but with the verpopulation we have nowadays and people giving them up left and right, the prices have come down a lot. But these people live in the past. There is this small pet shop that has a sun conure somebody gave them to resell. The bird is six years old and came with the original cage which is not in bad shape but it's nothing to write home about. They are asking for $500 for it. I tried telling them that you can get a weaned baby for $200 and a brand new cage (similar to the one she has now) for about $150 so asking $500 for a second hand bird in an old cage was not going to work out but they don't want to hear it. They have some poor tiels for over two years now, they are asking for $75 each and nobody buys them, same as a couple of keets and some pigeons. And nothing but seed and water for them...

Sounds like they should stick to aquariums and reptiles. Even more, it sounds like money is their defining raison d'etre. Too bad, when it's the buying and selling of lives that they're making money off of. Sounds like they simply don't care to learn, either.

"Vote" with your pocketbook. Don't patronize their store, and perhaps if enough people do the same, they'll get the hint.

my thoughts exactly. even if you aren't paying for a live animal, buying products from a store that "carries" live animals enables them to continue "carrying" them. i stopped going into petstores because i couldn't bare to lay eyes on the poor animals there, like the ones you witnessed. if you do your shopping online, it's a LOT cheaper too!

just my two cents...
