#2 | | | Re: What do you Feed? Lance thanks so much for bringing this subject up!
I have been in the middle of a complete diet change and evaluation. What should be so simple has got me pulling my hair out. Quote: |
get fed fresh seed, fresh fruits and veggies, and a breakfast item
| What quantities are you feeding of each? |

#4 | | | Re: What do you Feed? First breakfast on their perches: Nuts (shelled and unshelled), dried organic, unsulfered fruits, fresh filtered water.
Second breakfast in their cages: Nuts (shelled and unshelled), fresh or frozen organic veggies, peppers and fruit, fresh filtered water.
Lunch on perches: Carbs of some sort (bread, pasta, rice, Mexican food, etc.), a handful of shelled nuts, fresh filtered water.
Dinner in cages: Whatever we're having for dinner, provided it's bird-safe. This meal includes protein, usually from chicken, eggs, cheese or seafood. Refill nut dishes. Fresh filtered water. Occasionally 1/2 c. of juice in a bowl.
Bedtime snackie in cages, just prior to being covered for the night: 2 or 3 yogurt-covered unsulphered (dang! How DO you spell that word? LOL!) raisins and a cracker per bird.

#6 | | | Re: What do you Feed? In the morning I feed some fruit, usually apple and banana, and Harrisons high potentcy pellets (pellets are always available). I am gone most of the day. When I get home they get some nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds, pinenuts, all in the shell) and maybe some seed while I prepare something for their dinner-usually some form of grain/pasta and beans (Kashi organic pilaf is great, especially cooked with some fruit) with a mix of whatever veggies I have on hand OR homemade birdiebread loaded with grains, flax seed, veggies, greens and fruit. I bake the bread in large batches and freeze, I usually do the same with the grains and beans.
They get RPO added to their pellets once a week... |

With the fruits and veggies we just fill a 20 oz feeder crock half way or so. Some times its almost empty other times they don't touch it? Just depends on there mood I guess.
Dinner portions are a real rough estimate, it really depends on what we feed them. If we don't feed them enough they let us know quickly and we add more. |
