I was just talking to a friend and she asked me a question that I could not answer....so I thought I would ask it here:

At what age do birds stop regurgitating?

My 11 year old Scarlet macaw still regurgitates for me.... It stays on in adulthood as a mate bonding behavior, and of course as a baby feeding behavior.

I don't think they do. The behavior just takes on a different meaning as they mature. My two are 17 this year and they both do it.

I really don't think they do. I tried to look for some info, but there eally isn't much avalible. It seems that once they grow out of the baby feeding behavior, the adult hormones to feed their mate kick in and they start doing it again.

Ours still do it for us and each other? Not sure its the most healthy thing for them to feed each other but our AV doesn't seem to think its a big deal.
