Default Nuts for Green Winged Macaws

I don't want to over-do or under-do the nuts. For Green Wings how many nuts do you give per day or what would your suggestions be about how many nuts to give Kady & Kita?

They're both 18? Kady is a male who is underweight and Kita is a female and her weight is fine.

The nuts I offer and in order of their favorites are; Almonds, Cashews, Walnuts, Pine Nuts & Pistachios.

Thanks!

hahaha, I totally miss read your thread title

I don't have macaws but I would think that if Kady is underweight, I would load him up on the nuts. I would be offering them everyday in all honesty, the nuts you are using are very beneficial.

None. Macaws are NUTS enough as it is! ... Sorry, that was full of fail, lol

You could probably give more high-fat nuts to your underweight lovely, and when he catches up just keep them both on the less fatty nuts. I give my B&G a varying amount, since it depends what else I'm giving him that day. Recently he's back to only liking pistachios, so he gets about 8 a day max (he drops a lot of it anyway, I don't know why I bother hehe )

Ruby gets 10 pistachios a day, 2 walnuts and 3 almonds and 1 pecan. Lucky bird! She loves them!

Mine get "a lot". They get brazils, pecans, almonds, walnuts, filberts, and Mikey Blue gets 10 mac nuts/day. This is in addition to their diet of fruits, veggies, grains, etc. Sometimes we vary the mix and add unsalted pistachios and pine nuts, as well as cashews and the occasional peanut as treats before bedtime.

Mine get about 3/4 cup of mixed nuts in the shell(almonds, pecans, filberts, and brazils) once a day. They each also each get one walnut in their foraging balls,so they have to work for it.
