Default New Member of the Family!

I just got a B&G on Sat. His name is Charlie... we are doing a trial run with him, a friend of ours had him and for personal reasons couldn't care for him anymore... so he is living with us! Charlie will be 2 in August and he is soo adorable, i have always wanted a B&G but wasn't sure if i was ready for one yet... i guess we will see now huh!?! He very intimidating with his huge beak and just being almost 3x the size of Merlin. any advice would be great!!

I hope it all goes well for you & Merlin! Charlie's a looker.
My eyes are crossing - isn't there a B&G here named Merlin too? - but that's not your Merlin, but your Charlie. Love the name Charlie. Love the B&G look & totally agree about the beak size stuff.

If he's as well socialized as the Grey I bird sat - you will really have a lot of fun. How long are you going to keep him before committing? - until the feeling of yes or no sets in? I wouldn't 100% commit until he's away for a while. Then, you can make up your mind without the adorable one looking at you & you can reacquaint yourself with your old way of life.

I wish you all the best.

there is another red front named Merlin (i have a red front named merlin and now a B&G named Charlie) we are planning on doing a one month trial to see how things go. it's only been a few days and everything seems to be going well... the noise thing i have to get used to! Charlie is A LOT LOUDER than Merlin is.

what is a good way to introduce the two birds? i have been keeping them apart but where they can see each other... I'm just afraid of charlie hurting merlin!

We are learning a lot since Mac joined our family.
Mac has been abused, so he comes with issues.
His screech can hurt the ears.
He nips now and then, yes his beak is intimidating, but to show this will not be a good thing, Mac capitalizes on this, he will nip all the more if he knows he can get away with it.
He seems to be "my bird", otherwise he has chosen me, and is fairly mean to my wife, but slowly this is changing.
Birds love to be in charge, we are finding this on a greater scale with a greater (sized) bird such as Mac.
Don't show fear.
I pray all goes well between the 2 of you!

Mac says Hi!

Mac is beautiful! thanks, Charlie and I are slowly getting to know each other... i'm guessing that him regurgitating to me is a good thing! (keep in mind i'm still a new with parrots in general) I think things are going to go well and I plan for Charlie to stay with us forever. this might be a silly question but are there any bird training classes? we took our boxer to obedience class when he was a pup and it really helped us with handling him... do they do that for parrots too?
