My BIG RED chewing machine got hurt yesterday.....I bought him some new toys from the pet store the other day and put a new one in his cage outside...he grabbed onto the toy and was going nuts, LOL he somehow hurt his tounge on the toy, so now he is very cautious on climbing the bars and chewing on my fingers LOL.



This has happend to him a year ago, he just gets so crazy and wild with his toys that he hurts himself....

Kita really gets into beating the heck out of her toys. I'm always wondering if she's enjoying herself or mad at the toy. But knock wood, so far no repercussions from her toy rampages.

That happened to a Quaker I had many years ago.

Roxie gets carried away with her toys too - and she almost always has at least one hurtie on her face from it. She managed to break a piece of her upper beak one time too - it didn't bleed but you could tell it bothered her.

Bella may not be a macaw but with how she sometimes beats up her toys she may as well be one. She chipped the bottom of her beak, bruised it, and finally that bit pealed off while in play with one of her toys.

None of the boyos has got hurt playing with their toys (*knocks wood*), but there have been a few times we've had to pry bits of them off their beaks (those triangle-shaped fasteners) gently, with pliers. Once, Mikey Blue even got a mac nut stuck on his lower beak! Poor guy was scared out of his wits--getting that mac nut off the beak was the only time we've ever had to towel the poor baby (and the only time I've had to do everything in my power not to laugh at the irony of the world's strongest beak with his chosen food STUCK to it).
