Every bird has different personalities. Asia..the female mili Heather is talking about wasn't a super friendly/lovey bird to start. She was hitting breeding age, and decided once she was with another military she wanted him and no one else. Echo the male likes people and other birds...especially females, so he would preen her and was friendly to her, so they bonded. He was still a pet and was fine, but she wanted to kill Heather. I saw it first hand. I was able to catch her and towel her to do wings and nails, and she stepped up even. With the right home (with no boys) she could have been turned around. We sort of went through the same thing with Kyla. She freaked when we moved, so she went to stay with "Auntie Tammy LOL" she was Ok at first but bonded hard to Tammy's GW. She became agressive toward noty only Tammy and David, but to the other birds if they got near her man. Kyla is about 7 years old. It seems that the new bird that hasn't had time to bond well with the human companion are the ones that get out of hand. I think that birds that are owned for awhile and have a good human bond ,then warm up to each other have a better chance of having the best of both worlds, human and bird friends. |
