interesting side note to that.... most airline policy (domestic travel and determined by individual airline) prohibits shipping of CITES I creatures. I looked into that when Red was shipped to me... they told me CITES II is OK (GW) but I wondered if I had to put a Scarlet (CITES I) on a plane if anyone would even know the difference.

My guess is that domestically-raised, close-banded CITES I parrots are a bit easier to ship than those for whom documented proof of being domestically bred can't be obtained. Look online, and you'll see that breeders legally ship Scarlets, Hyacinths, Military Macaws, etc. via air all the time.

Red was not banded nor chipped when shipped.... but he is CITES II.

It is not Illegal per say to ship CITES I... just against some airline POLICY. I can't find it on their website, but while I was waiting for Red because I showed up early, they had a HUGE sign that said they would not accept ANY CITES I creatures as cargo... but my thought at the time was.... who would know the difference?

Continental shipped my Scarlet no problem...I don't think they pay any attention. The dumbies that carried her in said "ain't these birds mean?" ...I felt like saying stick your finger in and find out. LOL
