Mac has been filling his air sac...Hmmmmm, never heard of this.
All day he spent with our vet, no regurgitating what so ever.
She did take a blood draw and a crop culture to be on the safe side, we are waiting for the test results.
Mac is way over weight, I would be to if I wear on a strictly Peanut diet.
He has lost 40 grams since his last visit, our vet wants him to drop 100 grams, well 60 to go.
Rose Ann has Mac on a strict diet.
Mac picked his human....ME, we go through this with almost every bird that comes here, but for the most...Rose Ann is chosen.
Sooooo, I don't spend much time with Mac, but when I do he comes to me with no problems, now Rose on the other hand has to chase him down to get him to step up and he does bite at her but nothing serious.
I noticed this huge "tear me apart toy", hanging in his cage near where he perches, right away I thought maybe this wasn't a good idea, but didn't say anything to Rose.
The first thing she done when coming home from the Vet was remove that toy, soooo its gone now.
Mac is a very wonderful bird, his past is tainted with abuse, but his charm is highly remarkable, he is well manor ed except for once in awhile he screams "shut the f..k up".
He can be very loud, but his moments are short, here we are used to screaming, I guess one could say "we are seasoned".
I simply LOVE Mac, and my Rose....well Mac is her everything...
Mac and Rose are getting along much better, I am doing my part by "standing in the shadows" while watching there relationship grow.
Most of you know me and my ways, "I except animals the way they are, not the way I wish them to be".
My Rose likes to be in control, there diets, there toys, there training, there medical issues, She weighs every bird once a week, if sick, each day.
I will give everyone an update on the lab results as soon as we get them.
Rose Ann saw his neck was puffed up when giving Mac a shower.
She has been watching his regurgitating and sure enough, her flags went up.
What can I say "A mothers love for her child".

#16 | | | Re: Mac is on his way to our vet! She once joined a yahoo group for Quakers, apparently she didn't use the e-mail settings correctly and ended up with many e-mails.
This kinda sent her away from bird forums.
She isn't the kind of person to chat, she mainly uses the internet to learn.
I speak of Parrot Chatter often, and all our members, I will ask her to join, no promises...
Better yet, maybe if she was invited by others?????
Shes a pretty tuff cookie...
I have her e-mail address here if anyone would like to invite her.

#20 | | | Re: Mac is on his way to our vet! Mac's follow up was yesterday.
Another blood draw was taken.
Bad news....Mac has gained 70 grams.
He has plenty of toys, he's out of his cage more than he is in it.
He spends most of his time on the tree and he enjoys tearing things apart, so he is very active.
I can only blame myself that he has gained weight, He wants a piece of everything I eat.
Rose Ann has had her say with me....
I do have to stop giving in....
Our vet wants Mac in bed by 7 p.m. every night.
For a bird that has never had a cage, he sure does protect his cage...Big Time and Rose is buying him a regular Macaw cage this weekend, So Andy can have his cage back real soon.
I will take some new pictures soon. |
