Default Just wondering???

I'm just wondering how many of you trust your Macaws enough to be on your shoulder? And if yes do you trust all of them if you have more than one or is there just one or two that have that priviledge? I allow Darius on my shoulder except when he is hormonal. He has proven to me that he can be trusted not to bite and when I ask him to step down he does he is a very well behaved bird and listens to the word no imediatly without an argument. He has earned the priviledge to hang out on my shoulder. Chatot on the other hand is not allowed up there yet. he is very active and is still not as gentle as I would like him to be he's getting there but he still has a ways to go. I will allow kisses from him and he's good that way. But I'm still a little leary about him getting to close to my face. I've only had him since the middle of November so its hasn't been even 4 months yet. and He is still very much a baby and has allot to learn about how to behave he won't be 2 yrs old until June. I don't know his exact hatch date but I do know it was in the first week of June so I gave him the hatch date of June 6th that was my mom birthday and she isn't with us anymore so its an easy day for me to remember. here I am rambleing away. I'm curious about you and your Macaws and why or why not are they allow to be shoulder birds?

I have no macaws but I do have two tiels. Brian, well he wouldn't come near me lol, so he has never been on, but I do allow Colin on my shoulder. That is a tiel though, small bird compared to a macaw and I'm not sure I would allow a macaw on my shoulder to be honest; the damage they could do, just by accident, would not be worth it for me. That's just my opinion though.

Banjo is allowed on my shoulder and allowed to preen eyelashes sometimes. If she gets excited she is off, the macaw voice may not be used on my shoulder either. I value my eardrums. So far she has been gentle except when she is on her back and playing the rough game, or chasing feet. She has not bitten but she can get more excited than I am willing to risk my very soft skin. She is not sneaky in any way so I know exactly what mode she is in.

My shoulder is Anna's favorite place.... kinda like Banjo... she knows the rules and she behaves or she is off.
She just likes to sit there and preen herself, she gets very busy and then realizes that I am there and she will wipe her little tongue acorss my cheek... as if to say " I didn't forget you...."

Miss Ruby is easy for me to read.....so far! ha! So, when she is in a good mood I'll let her sit on my shoulder while I do the dishes or play the piano. Sometimes she checks out my ear. TICKLE TICKLE!

Riley (Noble), Nonami(cag), Jake (b&g), and Peaches (G2) are allowed to perch on my shoulder. Most days they can be trusted. Frankie (GW) and Peabodi (b&g) have proven to me several times its a bad idea, I just ain't quick enough sometimes to dodge 'em. Rocky (Maroon bellied Conure) is such a little demon possessed turkey, that I don't let him up there cuz I never know who he is on any given day.
I can let Peaches and Riley on me at the same time, but none of the others. Nonami is aggressive to the other birds and Jake is so much bigger than the other three, I just don't want to get in the middle of whatever might happen.

It's funny, but most of mine don't even try to get up there. I don't know if it's because they are mostly rehomes and they were taught not to in their old homes. I'd say the only one that is up there on a regular basis is Oz. (GW) She loves it up there and holds on good too. I can have her up there no matter what I'm doing and she is fine.

My husband lets his BG, Merlin, sit on his shouldar but Merlin refuses to sit on my shouldar and will only go on my arm. We have had him since he was a baby. Sunny, our GW stays on our arms and doesn't attempt shouldars. She is 20 and we just recently adopted her. I don't think mom allowed her on the shouldar
