#1 | | | Ivy Day 4, PHOTOS! today we had mostly a quiet day. moved all the perches to low in the cage. i left one bowl in the little recessed area, the other two i put on the floor of her cage. she managed to eat a few mac nuts out of the bowl in the recessed area, so she knows at least where that bowl is. i never saw her go down to the bowls on the floor, but she might have when i wasn't looking. i let her get used to her cage a bit more while i did some work around the house.
feedings are going ok. trying to give her baby food with solids mixed in. she has a lot of fun with bananas. hiding harrison's inside doesn't fool her, going to try to break them into smaller pieces tomorrow. gave her a cone of birdie bread from ginich and hilarity ensued. got some good photos of that!
she REALLY likes to snuggle. i can't get over how warm she is, too! OH, she flew around the main part of the house today. i couldn't believe how controlled she was, you should have seen the sharp turn she pulled off. wish we had snagged it on video. she might as well be full flighted, the feathers she has cut don't hinder her at all.
i cut up her dowel perch that came with her cage and made a t-stand to use on my postal scale to weigh her daily. she is down 28 grams from yesterday's vet visit. she is at 1111 grams currently. does any one know if there is a specific level/drop where i should become worried? she IS eating and drinking, and she is still pooping. i am sure she is going to lose more weight, i know some weight loss is normal. but i just want to know when to be concerned.
for now, we are keeping with the formula at night because i don't want to risk her getting dehydrated. we are putting pellets in with it. the formula smells JUST like the harrison's pellets, so i am hoping that she can get a smoother transition this way.
ANYWAYS, on to the photos! not as many today, a few of these are from yesterday. |

As far as the weight goes, keep a close eye, but dont get too worried. She will go up and down a bit. If she steadily looses weight, then thats when you'll want to do something.
Heres a link with adult birds average weights so you have an idea of where shes goping to. Current Hy owners can say whether its accurate. Average Bird Weight |

If she looses 10% of her weight, it can be a cause for concern so call your vet for counsultation. | thanks, JR. she lost more weight this morning, but hasn't dropped to 10% less. she is a very picky eater. i am hoping some more alone time will get her eating out of her bowls. the pellet journey has been unsuccessful so far. |

BIRDIEBREAD™ has been used successfully to wean babies from Macaws to Canaries so I have no doubt that Ivy is an afficionado in the making,
Can't wait to see the video........ |
