Talking First Photo of my Hyacinth, Ivy

Hello All,

I woke up to a wonderful photo in my e-mail! It is a photo of my baby girl, Ivy, the Hyacinth Macaw. She is the one in the middle. Her brother is on the right and her sister is on the left. She is learning to perch right now and is in a cage of her own.

She is about 3 months old and I should be meeting her for the first time in the next month or so. I will see her about once a week until she comes home in January. You guys are going to be so sick of Hyacinth photos, I promise

I am so happy and excited

Wow - with so many here on the board - we should get a pretty good idea about them as a companion. Maybe you should all step up [separate thread] & say how old your Hy is/are - are they all related around here???

Saw an interesting TV movie/Doc last evening on PBS - on Macaws. They had some excellent footage of the Hy & their cliff nests & the clay licks they all use. Saw some Military Macaws, Scarlets, Greenwings, Blue headed & Red Bellied Macaws + some Zons etc.

oh yes! please share about them! This would be very helpful, as seeing how much money these guys are I will probably never get the chance to get one, any info about them will be much appreciated!

We got Harley (B&G) unweaned (I weaned her, had experiance) for a little under $1000, plus her cage and toys, and everything else. In the short they're expensive! Hy's are about $10,000, but they are so incredibly sweet and gentle!
