Default Boarding question

Morning! I am going to have to leave Ruby for a week while we are on vaction. My vet is going to board her. This is the best I can come up with as I don't have any birds friends that live here in Houston. The place where I bought her from said they would keep her but they have been having some break-in theft problems and I just can't risk that!! As the trip nears I am getting worried sick about leaving her. Do you all have any experience with boarding or how your birds seem to react to being left for a few days? Any tips?

Jess you know I have been away recently, I took Peg's with me because of her super special circumstances. IE..no feathers and really combatting the disease. Pi, I left at home to the care of others.

He coped well. Yup missed me a lot but all in all he is ok. I was gone for nearly 2 weeks. In fact upon returning he is all over me, dancing round, showing off and ready for more interaction than ever before.

Ruby will be fine. Have a great break away knowing that you have your beloved being well looked after.
A break from their beloved draws them closer, they come to realize we are not there always but in love we are there forever.

I'm sure she'll be fine. I've always had a pet sitter that comes and takes care of them (would cost me a fortune to board them).

did you try List pet sitter assignments, find pet sitters and walkers worldwide. Pet sitting & dog walking directory. I've hard great luck with this when I was trying to find a sitter.

I think she'll be fine (you too!). I know many people who board when they vacation and it works out fine. Maybe you can bring Ruby to the boarding place just for a visit here and there before your trip so that she can get used to being there? I remember you said that she doesn't like to go to the vet, but if you make a couple light and fun trips there (with no poking and prodding), it might ease her mind a bit about being there.

I haven't had to board mine, but I have left them for trips and they all do just fine.

You can bring her to me, and I'll make certain that we move before you get back, LOL!!! She's just so precious, we just love Miss Ruby! Seriously though I think she and you will both do just fine. I'm sure they will take excellent care of her while she's at the Vet's. I know all four of mine just adore my AV and he loves them too! Don't fret Momma, all is going to be fine. Have a wonderful time on your vacation, and take loads of pictures for us okay!!!!

Oh boy, oh boy...I have not been on vacation since I've gotten my fids. Luckily I have a friend close by who will check in on my babes. I went to Orlando for a weekend once. I was miserable with out my babies! hehe

If I was to leave for a week plus, then I'd have to carry my little Jazzy girl on the plane with me. She'd be okay in the Avian Adventures Poquito for a couple weeks Jazzy is my lifeline!
