Well, she is still doing it this morning. This strange thing has been going on for a few days now. That picture is GREAT! In fact, Rainbow is those very same colors. Funny. She looks like she is doing that same thing, but Rainbow usually has food that looks like babyfood all over her beak. That's why I thought it was strange. I think I'm going to do what you suggest Arty - even if I lose a finger in the process. hehe. I've tried to look in her beak from the other side of the bars, but she just won't cooperate. You've got me thinking that maybe something...like a sunflower shell or something like that might be there, and could she regurgitate to try to "move it out" ???? I don't know what I'm talking about remember...

yeah - the sex of the bird. It's been really weird with these two - they both shred paper and stick it in their back feathers, they both do that crazy regurgitating thing. If they are in the same cage, they want to kill each other, but if not, they miss each other. When they are out of the cage, they groom each other and fight over toys. Go figure.

They are funny to be sure. I've become quite attached to the little crazies.

THANKS AGAIN Arty for the websites - I'll read up today. I'm happy to let them share my pad, but it would be nice if they might let me "be friends" someday...hehe. Talk to you later - I'll let you know if I find something crazy stuck in there! JoDee

If she's only eating seeds I'd be surprised that the result was an 'oatmeal' look to the regergitated stuff. When the Budgies regurgitate, the seed is hulled but intact.

You might be looking at a yeast infection? Hope the toweling pays off & you can see if it is the whole mouth or just the upper beak. If it is thrush - yeast - you will have to treat it.

Don't give up on the pellets & fresh foods. Look at Jim's birds - they go nuts for his mash. Over time they should investigate the new foods - especially if you pretend to eat some.

Al the best.

Where in the heck am I getting Jenn....hmmmmm must be getting old...LOL
I recently rehomed my Fantail Pigeons, I was speaking to 2 very nice people, well I decided on a fellow named Gary, but called him Doug when he came to our home, yep....the other person was named Doug....
I trully am sorry JoDee......getting old sucks....
Anyways....it never hurts to check and see if there is something in the birds beak....
We saw the same behavior here and sure enough, "our vet called it beak buggers", there was food stuck up in the upper beak.
I have posted more information that may help you to help your new friends.
I tried to cover some behavior issues as well.
Good luck my friend!
Arty

HAHA! Arty, I've been called alot of things in my life, Jenn being one of the very nicest. No harm done! hehehe.

YEAST! Yuck. I really hope it's not something like that. But, even if I was able to look inside her beak, I wouldn't know how to tell if it was yeast infection of whatever. The stuff she has all over her beak is all the same texture, no seeds in it - looks like tan baby food. I've seen her/him regurgitate that before when she/he's playing with a rope toy, or when the 2 birds are out together. ??? Unfortunately, I don't really know much about bird behavior - but I'm willing and able to learn! I scooted them away from each other this morning...These babies are a puzzle to me. homebird, can you tell me what I am supposed to look for to see if it's yeast? Hopefully it's food...how would I treat something like that? Thanks Arty - I'll let you know what I find in there!

I am not an expert - it just made me wonder - here's a link about thrush.

Alright. Nothing. I can't see anything in her mouth. ? When we tried to get her to look in her mouth, she went nuts. She HATES us. This is not new for her though. But, I didn't want to make her stress out more, so we just looked in her mouth as she was trying to rip my husband's finger off. She rubs her beak on the gritty perch all the time, and it's sharp as a tack. I'm worried, because of all the scary stories I hear about birds having something wrong and hiding it. This is a brand new behavior with her, and her poop looks different - it's lighter and not much liquid. Since she started doing this strange thing, she/he does it most of the day.
