OH YEAH. They seriously hate each other. I put one in the small cage yesterday for a few hours (still looking for another cage). They were quite humble, and mostly quiet, both ate fine, and played with their toys. Then I put them together last night, they went to sleep, then first thing this morning, started flapping and chasing each other and yelling at each other. So, I put the other one in the small cage, (different one than yesterday) and she CHARGED me. I mean, like a big mean dog, charged me. Bit me hard. Now, she is hitting her beak on the bottom of the cage. ??? Help? They are both biters, but their behaviour is much different lately, and they are both being kind of mean. Any suggestions? Or, am I doing the right thing seperating them? And, what the heck is wrong with my green girl, banging her beak on the cage and charging me? I was very calm and I'm talking nice, (except for the little squeal that escaped me when she attacked me) and let them know I love them....But Geez. Help....what am I doing wrong?

What you are seeing is breeding behaviour,Mine are all acting nasty right now as well, and laying eggs everywhere. I would keep them seperated at this point, you don't want one to seriously injure the other or worse due to their ragging hormones. If you have to get one out use a towel so you don't get bitten.

Oh my gosh! Hilarious! She is being HATEFUL to me! Every time I go in there, she bangs her beak on the floor of the little cage, and bobs up and down, and bites at me. Yesterday she ripped her food bowls off the cage and dumped them upsidedown on the floor 3 times. The gray (nicer one) one was chasing the green one around the cage this morning. I wonder how long this lasts??? Forever??? I suppose we can be "almost" certain that they are both girls at this point?

I'm searching for a new cage, and THANK YOU so much for helping me out!!! Do you think it's okay for me to let them have their "fly" time out of cage? Seperately I'm sure, huh? When yours lay eggs, and you shake them, how long do you leave them to sit on them, or do you just take them away? Well, since they are both girls, I guess I better think of new names...Hansel and Gretel won't work, and besides, those names sound so sweet. hehe.

The good thing is that hormones don't last forever, it does calm down each year. If they lay eggs, if they both female or single bird, they not fertile anyway no need to shake. Leave the egg till the bird loses interest. Taking an egg just means that a predator got it and the bird needs to lay another for species survival. If the egg fails to hatch the bird accepts this and waits for next season. Too many eggs causes calcium depletion.

Oh duh. Yeah, I guess I wouldn't have to worry about an infertile egg hatching. haha! Sorry for the dumb question. Thanks for the tip on how long to leave it there. They slept in seperate cages last night next to each other. First time in their lives they have not been able to snuggle. They were awake crying all night. BROKE MY HEART. I hope that gets better with time. Poor little girls...

Thanks 2horse! Jodee
