Default Raptor Center Rehab

The local raptor center and wildlife rehab asked me to join up so I could assist with the birds.

I did. With so many bald eagles in our program, how could I refuse to handle them? LOL

Today I got my first wild rehab bird. A 2-3 day old baby mallard! What a cutie pie. I am the only one who has raised ducks before so I get this one. Cute little peeping ball of fluff. It is imprinted on humans already (follows me around and cries for me when I leave it) so I will probably introduce it when it is older into MY mallard flock of 7 (I have a 2 acre pond out my back yard) so my mallards go in there everyday and come back to the yard each evening.

I will post a pic tomorrow when I can take my camera to my work computer.

Between, my retail store, grooming business, breeding, pets, family, etc; I don't know either! LOL

However, there are so few people that have a healthy FEAR and understanding of large birds that they really think they need me. They invited me after I caught a fully flighted green wing off a roof. While I know she could have bit me and broken bones, I very well could not have left her there! Most people apply so they can play with the eagles. While I think they are cool, and I will be excited to handle them, I think rehab is going to be the most fun part!
