Default Protective hawks attacking people, drawing blood

NAPLES: A family of hawks is taking over a portion of the City of Naples - the same hawks that held up parking garage construction with their nest. Now that they've hatched, it's a dangerous situation for anyone who walks into their territory.
Adult hawks caring for their young can be a peaceful scene. But people working around this particular nest are telling people to watch out and to walk carefully because the Cooper's Hawks are attacking.
"If people get too close and it feels threatened, it will dive bomb them," said Mike Bauer, Naples Natural Resources Manager. "By dive bombing I mean take what's called a stoop by a hawk where it folds its wings and comes down."
"I think we're scared to death it reminds me of the movie The Birds," said Naples resident Cathy Rogers.
People walking near the nest, located near Cambier Park at 8th Street South and 6th Avenue South, usually don't even see what's coming because they're getting hit in the back of the head.
With some people, the birds have even drawn blood.
"Some people have reached back and seen blood on their heads," said Bauer.
The City of Naples has roped off one sidewalk and parking lot. But officials warn the hawks can, and have, attacked beyond that area
"All of a sudden, you'll see a shadow or the bird already passed you and you can be hit and never know the bird was there," said Bauer.
City officials are asking people to stay away from the spot for a few more weeks until the babies leave the nest.

Well, I am glad they didn't decide to just kill the hawks! Yea for them! I personally would love to see this! I wouldn't even mind getting pecked!

I know its scaring people and it is dangerous, but I see "funnies home videos" coming out of people getting hit in the head by a hawk. Hopefully the hawk family will find a new nesting ground next year.

Well, there is one way we can see a funny video of it.

I'll call Joe and have him take Missi for a walk in Cambier Park.

Honestly, I don't care if a Hawk attacks me, as long as it leaves my eyes alone. I'm going to volunteer myself to take a trip to the park this weekend. Actually I work right near the park so perhaps I'll go on my lunch break tomorrow...good photo opp.

Can't wait!
Hop you can hold the camera still to shoot while you get attacked.
