I spent alot of time feeding PP last Saturday, then saw him no more, each day I called to him.
Well....he showed up today, he is hurt badly, blind in one eye and what looks like a chemical burn on the back of his neck, right behind the ears, even the ears look bad.

Looks like someone threw something on him and burnt him, even the top of his head is injured.




This is not a typical wound from maybe a fight with another squirrel, this appears to be a burn of some sort.
PP will no longer come all the way to me, He comes close but won't take the treat from my hand, I was able to get closer with the camera but only because he can't see out of his right eye.
The eye is badly clouded, he looks so bad.....
So may things are running through my mind right now.

People make me sick. Do you think he'll be okay otherwise?

PP is wild now, I can't bring him back under my care, I want to badly...
I don't even know if I can catch him, and what trauma this would place unto him..by trying to catch him.
This sickens me...just sickens me....

I don't know, he seems okay...but whats okay?
I am going nuts here assuming.......

PP was being harrassed by the other Squirrels, once they found there way in to his nesting box I built for him they beat him up and stole his food, so oneday he just stopped coming home, but what if he took up home in someone elses garage or shed and accidently tipped a chemical onto himself.
OMG.....all I know is my liitle one is hurt badly....

Oh Arty, I'm so sorry. The poor little fellow. From the pictures, its hard to tell, but looks like his front feet are not affected? Almost seems like if something caustic had gotten on his head, he would have gotten it on his feet as well trying to get it off? I wonder if its possible he got his head caught in something and injured himself that badly trying to get out? Another thought I had is maybe he stuck his head into something, I don't know, a piece of pipe or something that had residue of some sort in it? Then again, it certainly wouldn't surprise me if someone had done it deliberately by throwing gasoline or something on him. Man is capable of such cruelty and malevolence. I hope he can recover, but would imagine even if he does, the eye is lost. This is awful.

I am thinking I should trap him...if possible...he is non-trusting right now...
This would mean taking away his freedom, I can give half of my loft to him.
I am beside myself right now, I have to go look for him...

I would think taking his freedom away for a little bit until he heals would be fine. This way he can have time to recover and not have to defend himself from other squirrels and predators, or look far for food.
