So sorry to hear about the little guy. Thank goodness he is alive and knew where to go - to his safe haven at your home. I hope he returns again to you so you can keep tabs on him.

OMG, it wasn't PP, I just went outside and called for him, Welllll guess who came running up and climbed up my leg to get his treat...PP
Now I am Happy ...but very sickened knowing there's an injured squirrel out there that came very very close to me to get a peanut...OMG....
Whats going on here????
All the wild squirrels will come close but never as close as this injured little one.
What am I to think of this?
Something is being said to me right now...but what...?

maybe one act of kindness from you is what the injured squirrel needed Arty. Such a tragedy when animals suffer from human ignorance.

Here's my little boy......
I had to go back outside to make sure I wasn't imagining all this...

Now my eyes will be looking for the injured squirrel, I thought this was strange, PP and I were just together 2 days ago, wounds just don't heal that fast, the wounds on that squirrel appeared healed, or Scared....so to speak...
Never has any other squirrel came that close to me, one peanut was taken right from my hand, but the rest had to be tossed...
I have no answers right now Jim.....I wish I did...the injured squirrel is gone, I can only pray he/she comes back, I will go out of my way to feed this little one, Happy and Saddness are fighting within me right now......

Oh Art, I am so sorry about the little guy. I sure hope it wasn't at human hands. People can be so cruel.

I just came in from waiting and watching, for just a glimpse of this little injured one.....all the squirrels are belly down to the cool ground, 95 here today.
I filled all the water feeders and the water tub....
A very dear friend of mine (Beaks) once told me everything happens for a reason,There's a message in todays experience, I am pounding my brains on this one...
Now I am more worried for PP than ever, he is semi tamed, just what will become of him if he does come to close to the wrong person???
I should have followed proto call when rehabbing PP, built a nesting box and hung it in the tree as I was suppose to and take it down once it was abandoned...
My heart simply aches right now....

This has been a very disturbing thread...

It makes me reflect on attachment as a big source of suffering.

Arty you do so much good - it would be very sick if your little fellow was hurt intentionally. Seeing this one squirrel - maybe he was a pet as well at one time & who knows what happened.

But it has always been a problem feeding wild animals - they get too friendly for their own good - perhaps opening themselves to danger. I am reserved about even petting stray cats - not wanting them to get too friendly with strangers - i grew up knowing boys in my class who tortured cats - i was very disturbed by them but didn't do anything about it as i was a child. I did learn that tameness can be a curse.

Regarding the baby sparrow - he's still eating & pooping - i'll try & keep my distance & let him be wild if possible. Thanks for your help & suggestions.

Don't beat yourself up Arty. Everything does happen for a reason, and people and animals come into our lives for a reason. We may not know the reason, it may not be for us, but for them. This little guy came to you, maybe for help or just compassion. PP came into your life for obvious reasons....love. We all need it, and have to share it.

You're a good man Arty.......PP knows that, and trusts you. This new little guy may be back. Maybe you are his safe haven.

Pay it forward .....thats what you can do. Your heart will tell you the right thing to do, it hasn't let you down yet. Look how much you've gained, and how many lives you've touched. Human and animal.

Keep us posted.

Arty........I was reading thru all the posts in this thread for the first time just now and while doing so I was wondering how are you so sure the squirrel you saw with the burn etc. was PP. Was going to ask that after I finished reading the whole thread. Then I see PP showed up. Cool!!!

I hope the other one heals quickly.
