#6 | | | Re: Look what showed up in my backyard! We have a small group that hang tight in this area A Buck and three Doe's.
Sadly the Buck was hit by a car last summer and was found in the park accross the street with 2 broken legs and had to be put down, haven't seen any of his Doe's lately.
There's a small kiddy park directly accross the street in front of our home, beyond that there is a triangular section of land, about 3 acres of fenced in land near the railroad tracks, open land with trees surrounding the perimeter.
Well the city decided to give the land to Dog owners and called a meeting to vote, I said to leave the land alone for wildlife, and my neighbor down the street agreed, that was 2 against 100 dog owners, so you can see whom lost the vote, now all the animals that called that field home call my home (and other neighbors) home.
Now I find baby rabbits, many more squirrels, and small rodents.
The deer could never enjoy the land due to it being fenced in, but always traveled along the side to another part of land that is wooded, now even they are gone.
A good example of progress and how it seems to steal from the wild animals.
If you know where to find acorns Roxanne, collect them and keep for winter.
Also maybe you could find a salt block at Fleet Farm and mount on your fence in that area, we have a very large oak tree here, I rake up the acorns each year and offer to the deer during the winter months.
A little kindness goes so far during the cold winter months.
Take Care |

Just a thought, feeding the animals kinda makes me feel good inside.
The big oak tree out front puts out a great amount of acorns, you can hear them hit the deck like rain drops, then looking at all the fat squirrels around here....
Sooooo, I rake them up and offer them during the winter time, seems to help. |
