Default Its that Time again!

Winter time is coming.
Please help the little ones during this trying time, food and water become scarce, there survival may just depend upon you and your kindness.
Please, Please help the little ones that can't help themselfs, offer seed and water during the winter.
A handful of seed per day will help them get through that day.
Maybe a bowl of water placed outside and changed daily, they trully need your help.
As there natural resources dwindle down to nothing they will come to us for help, Please....won't you help?
Peace
Arty

We've been feeding again for about a month now. Although the weather has just been unbelievably excellent for this time of year, there has been a steady stream of visitors to the feeders. There are always Chickadees, Nuthatches (Red and White breasted), Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, and Blue Jays, but in the last couple of weeks we've watched waves of Gold Finches, Purple Finches, Juncos, and various Sparrows come through, working their way south on migration. Soon we will see more finches arrive from even further north, and these will stay with us through the winter, as well as the Mourning Doves. When winter really hits we'll start getting Red Polls and Canadian Jays, Evening Grosbeaks and Crossbills.

I know it can be argued that these birds were around before we started feeding them, and they would probably survive without us. But it must surely make their lives easier during stressful times, whether on migration or just trying to survive through the long, cold winter months. I can't help but feel that as habitat shrinks and climate changes, they can use all the help they can get. Besides, it's wonderful to watch them come and go, and listen to their songs. I'd like to think that a full belly means there's a little more joy in those little voices.

I have 2 bird feeders out year round. One of them is very touchy and spills a lot of seed on the ground, so the squirrels stay happy as well. Ollie loves to watch the birds outside of the window. The other morning I put her on her stand in front of the window and then pulled up the blinds to see about 5 birds around the feeders. She got all excited, puffed up, and said "HI little birdie!"

One great way to feed the outdoor birds is to use the seed your birds throw on the ground,Its good food and it saves on waste by feeding others.
