Another Aussie story for you.
Kangaroo's are hit on the road here often. One day my former hubby was on his way home from work, he came accross a road kill.
In it's pouch was a Joey. He picked up the Joey and put it in the boot of his car and came home.

He rushes inside the house and says to me, "come quick" I race outside and see this little joey in the boot. I can't tell you how georgeous this was. I brought it inside immediately, put him by the fire. I had read a lot about Joey's, so I got a pillow case and popped him inside, hung him up in it in the lounge room and I slept there all night too keep an eye on him...psst..I got mega cuddles. He was the most wonderful thing I ever had or saw in my life. I was sooooo lucky to have a baby joey.

Next day I contacted local wildlife rescue and handed him over.

He was soft, I mean mega soft, only a few months old.

I am just your regular outbush Aussie that takes em in and looks after them or hands them over. Comes wiv the territory.

I have also cared for magpies and other birds, also other wildlife, a wombat etc. etc.
The wombat had mange, what a problem that was, spread to my dogs. Oh well, I took the risk. Unfortunatley the wombat died. It's flesh was too far eaten and putrid. It stunk, really bad.

Gators are hit on the road here often, I would never bring one home.
Guess it all depends on where you live what you might find on the road.
You a are dear for caring for that little one.

Yeh, my son wanted me to pick up a tortoise that was on the road once, if I thought the wombat stunk

I am killing myself laughing here right now. Man did that tortoise stink, sheesh, in the car to boot. Friggin hell, these kids been round me too long. Sorry but the tortoise got booted. I had to drive. A long one at that.

Reminds me of when the step son picked up the porcupine off the road.
Man oh man, I have had it all. This thing crawled up into the well of the front passenger side, right up where the heater is. Don't ask.

I'm a huge reptile fan, so yeah, those gators and turtles would come home with me. Hubby always tells me we should get an alligator so that eventually, we'd end up with only one pet... LOL!!!!
