A Java Macaque has webbed hands and feet,so they can go into the water and get their food. Their primary food is shellfish.

What's the story? - is this a pet? - a zoo? - sorry I am on unknown territory here.

Why was the monkey there?

I'm going to be controversial & say I think that monkeys shouldn't be with humans - for their well being.

Monkey's do NOT make good pets. My Dad's family had a monkey when he was growing up. He was a mess! He'd unhook the sunroom curtains, mess up the apple butter, bite people. His name was Robear or Roberte (don't know which spelling), pronounced like the first spelling looks. He was good friends with the chiuahaha Nana & Grandpa had on the farm.

Thanks thought it might be like that - memory is poor sometimes. Why were they handling the baby? Was it an exam?

I always thought they were too wild & too much like us to be reasonable pets.
Robert with a French pronunciation!

The animals are handled to some extent so that they can do exams, and give shots and whatever needs to be done to them. They do not like to dart an animal only if nessary(to transport to the vet if need be). I do fully understand that ALL primate are "driven" animals. I would rather get hunted down by a lion, tiger or bear. usaully the vet comes the animal park. About 1/4 of the animals we have are used in movies or commericals. for instance: the Zi-Cam commerical is our White Rhino ,Tank. He is used for the Land Rover commericals. Our Siberian Tigers have been in the movies: Betty's Wedding;Reversal of Fortune and Prince of Tides.

Yes! To hear my Nana tell those stories makes me laugh.
My cousin Nick told brother #1,
"When I grow up, I wanna monkey like Mom's."
"My Dad had a monkey too."
"No he didn't."
"Yes, he did."
"No he didn't."
This goes on for a bit & then brother says something along the lines of - "It was the same monkey!"
