BrokenWing Chronicles
Helping Animals

There’s more to helping animals than (finding there owners), (mending there injuries).
I have the up most respect for those that Rescue and or help animals, but there’s a need to go beyond.
Prevention is needed to stop such needs.
I am a rescuer, I am also an animal rights activist, I help animals and take measures to protect them.
There’s more to helping animals than taking in (adopting), or (injured animals) and patching them up for a successful release.
Help stop such abusive ways, in the chronicle I am going to speak about “just to name one”, Cats.
People that allow there Cats to roam freely need to be stopped, millions of song birds are killed each day here in the USA from stray cats, matters not if this is happening in rural areas or urban areas, the feline is not a natural part of the food chain here in the USA, these little felines maybe a natural part of the food chain in there native country but not here.
The feline was imported into the USA to help control the rodent population, they were domesticated and people actually believe its “okay” for these animals to roam freely and kill wildlife, this belief has by all means became a normal response from cat owners.
Well, you’re wrong; many wild animals have become extinct from such beliefs.
Mother Nature has put in place a natural food chain here in the USA to help keep all species in check and the feline simply put “is not on this list”.
Now our Natural predators such as Falcons & Hawks are starving, Raccoons and others included, the stray cat “Feline” either Feral or simply let outside to roam freely is devastating our natural food chain.
Stricter laws need to be imposed unto Cat ownership, more people need to start standing up for wildlife and begin to tell there neighbors that allow there cats to roam freely “it’s not alright”.
People need to start supporting such causes such as (keep cats indoors campaign).
I hear many rescue facilities mention there costs, the financial issue to keep there facility running.
A good starting point to help end these financial issues is Prevention, a prevention program needs to be implicated with aggression within all Rescue facilities.
Currently it is estimated there are millions of Stray cats roaming our streets, the feral populations are growing at a staggering rate, we pay dearly in taxes to keep (shelters up and running), )killing machines).
We complain about such costs, we fight those that try and pass new laws to limit the time holding such animals before they are (destroyed) to cut down the costs to the tax payers, and then we turn around and complain about stray cats roaming the streets.
This is a vicious circle with only one true victim (the Cat).
Programs such as (TNR) trap, neuter, release simply do not work, this has been proven over and over again, why does this program fail, they claim the cats are released, why?, they were a menace before they were neutered and still are when released, this program fails wildlife.
The animals are claimed to be released at Sanctuary type facilities, are these facilities completely enclosed even the tops, NO, most cats return to streets and continue there killing ways.
People come by and feed these cats in the TNR program, we all know these animals end up starving, people do not visit these refugees and provide nourishment, people are not dependable.
Fact, many cats kill wildlife and sit the little dead animal next to these feeding dishes in return for cat food that is supposedly offered by the public.
Supporting stiffer penalties unto the cat owner and the destruction of all feral cats is the only answer to gain control of this (gone wild) problem.
If every person that claims to be an animal lover were to adopt every cat caught and contained, there would not be enough people to take them all.
Feral cats have returned to the wild, they are no longer domesticated, they breed and scent there territories, they will attack a human when confronted, now lets say these animal lovers adopt one of these cats, lets just be real concerning this issue, its not going to work.
In the meantime the killing ways of the feline continue and our song birds drop like flies as well as ground squirrels and other species.
Fact, in some cities in the country of Australia, cat ownership has become so costly most people can’t afford to won one, now they seem to have a dog problem.
Fact, here in the USA shelters are funded by our tax dollars, thousands of dogs and cats are destroyed each day.
Fact, if this issue continues on its present course, our grandchildren will not enjoy many species of wildlife we enjoy today; they will only be able to be seen in books.
Fact, all animals are suffering under the current conditions.
What can you do to turn this around?
Go to this site Birds and Cats - The Cats Indoors Campaign.
Contact them and ask what you can do.
If you’re a Rescue Facility, know there’s more to helping animals than taking them in and feeding and caring for them, we must stop what is happening to them, begin informing people of the horrors done unto wildlife by the feline.
A very aggressive campaign needs to be put in place and supported each and everyday.
Exotic and wild bird forums, these forums were created to help others help the birds, place the link posted above and encourage your members to help stop the horrors done unto all animals by the feline aloud to roam freely.
Take pride in your quest to help birds by posting the link above on your site and supporting the effort will begin the healing process for all birds’ weather exotic or wild.
If you see your neighbor let his pets run freely outside, please, take the time to speak with that person, if you have to, catch the animal and call the proper authorities.
Please give all birds a fighting chance to live the life given to them, support the site I have posted above, contact them, ask them….what can I do to help?
Do you really love birds?
If so, they need your help!
They need your help today!

You said it all Arty.
We had renters in the neighborhood who left their cat behind.
The first day, I tried to contact them but found they had moved out of state.
In the mean time, this poor cat was starving , so I fed it then called animal comtrol. This was a cat that was always inside, declawed and would not have survived.

So many cat owners believe that they can just let their cat out to come and go as it pleases. In our county, dogs and cats alike have to be on a leash when outside. Most people do not know this. Please call to find out what the ordinance/law is in your area. Speak to the owner first, then, call the authorities.
