Thank you.We will try that one. Dont want him to starve to death when he has pulled through so much trauma. Hes been a real fighter so far.

First, Thank You for helping the little bird.
Starlings are great talkers, they are very nice little birds.
As 2 Horse has said, use a tweaser and offer very small pieces of meal worms, taping on the beak will stimulate.
The little one is still scared, much has happened.
It sounds like this bird is very young, may not be weaned yet.
A pro biotic is needed, hopefully your mum will be able to get the little one to eat, she will need to dip the meal worm into the biotic.
Nothing has been said about any injuries.
The balding on the legs is a norm for a young bird.
There maybe a need to rehydrate the bird, a pinch of sugar and a pinch of salt mixed in with water.
Keep the little one warm, and let us know whats happening.

Sorry, the little one died during the night. We never managed to get him to eat anything, tried dripping onto his beak and tapping it nothing would open it and it was far too small to prise open. We were going to take him to vets today and pay for his treatment in the hope they would take us seriously. Its upset me especially as he put up such a fight. The cat alone had him for 2 hours to my knowledge. The first time i caught her with him she evaded me, there was nothing i could do.

My mum has just rung me, she has been inspecting little one and thinks he is either a swift or swallow, his wings are longer than his tail and the reason his wings were outstretched all the time is because they never land according to my dads birdwatching book. She has also been looking at the starlings in her garden and says he looks nothing like them. They also eat insects which is why he wouldnt eat what we offered him. My dad knows a lot about wild birds but he has gone to Italy for a few days but she will keep the body for him to see when he gets back.

Thank you so much for trying. I know how discouraged and sad you are about it, but you did what you could. I seem to recall that baby swifts are particularly difficult to rehab. Their nests often become dislodged or babies fall out, and the outcome is usually fatal, even without extra trauma such as animal attack. Again, thank you and bless you for trying to help the little one.

The poor thing probably died of starvation and fear, we put him in the dark and they dont like the dark. May god bless his soul and let him rest in peace, he more than deserves it after what he went through and the fight he put up.

It is really too bad that you & the little bird have had this trauma. He will have educated you, so his death is not a loss. You have no idea if he was rejected from the nest & might have been doomed.

Thanks for trying & finding as much help as you could.
