Looks like he's doing great, John. Would love to hear more about him, and what its been like for you to care for him! How's your back these days? Hope you're getting healed up.

I just noticed how incredibly large his wingspan must be. What is it, approx? What do you feed him?

He looks great. Have you got a close up of the rebuilt beak?

wingspan is over 5 feet.

the old fart in the picture is 6"2" and 270 lbs so you get an idea of how big that bird really is.

the cool part in that picture is that when you enlarge it you can see the talons buried in my hand/arm and he was just relaxing so i wouldnt try handling one of these birds unless you really know what you are doing.

he eats meat (they really like the guts because thats where most of the vitamins and other good stuff hides out.

also most people think that vultures are nasty birds but their poop is deadly to bacteria because of its chemical composition.

i dont know if i have any closeups of the beak but all of the white area is new beak(fiberglass) Dont attempt it unless you know your stuff because its a long hard job that takes hours to finish.

Over 5 feet...WOW!

If you do have any close up pictures of the beak, we'd love to see it!

Wow is that why your arm looks a little scratched and sore.

Good job on the beak.
