Any idea where I can find a heavy feeder dish that has tall sides? The white crown like to kick the seed everywhere. I'm currently using this plastic flower pot dish with a brick in it to keep the squirrels from pushing it everywhere. I had a pottery flower pot dish which was heavy but the sides were too angled and the seed went everywhere.
Sorry, no help here. It's expensive and messy, but I just let them scatter it around. By springtime, there are shovelfuls of discarded seeds around my feeders. I ground-feed for the Mourning Doves anyway.
Thanks. I tried liquid nailing some ceramic tiles on the bottom yesterday to see how that works for now. It would be no problem if we had no squirrels.
Sorry, I don't know either... I use a hanging feeder here so the squirrels can't bother the birds. I love the squirrels though too, so every few days I will shake the feeder so some seed scatters on the ground. The other morning we had birds and squirrels chowing down at the same time!
Robert have you thought of getting a squrriel feeder? My grandparents used to have a rather elaborate garden, complete with bird feeders of all sorts. They put up a squirrel feeder to deterr the squirrels from feeding on the birdfood... it worked pretty well. You mounted dried corn on the feeder- they hooked theirs up to their large oak tree away from the birdfeeders and refilled it daily. Squirrels loved it.

Holds one ear of dried corn on the center spike. Order our bag of dried corn cobs with this feeder. Squirrels not included! Dimensions: 9"D x 3-1/2"W x 8"H"
I've seen them avialable at craft shows before too... not a bad price tho, only 15 dollars.
