Well, I responded and see that message was lost also.
You done well, a little life was given the chance to live.
Many times I have felt the same as you as they have flown away.
There doesn't seem to be much gratuity, but know within your heart there is, from within...
You saved a life, please know this within your heart, you are a special person.
I want to leave you with a poem, this peom says alot, things could have been different, know this to be true.....I do....
You Shine!

Tiny Wings,
I am going to miss you.
The other birds will too.
I looked forward to the day
that you would fly away.
I was preparing to say goodbye...
but not like this.
How could the death of a little bird,
an "insignificant" sparrow,
pierce my heart so deeply,
and shake me to the marrow?
I did everything I knew,
to feed and comfort you.
I laughed when you fluttered
your Tiny Wings.
If you could have lived by love and will,
Little bird, you'd be here still.
But instead, I held you as you died.
I saw your last breath leave you.
I felt your tiny heart stop, and
you had to feel mine, too.
You never got to try your wings,
and here I can't fly either.
I must believe that there has to be,
a different place for you and me.
The time must come when we'll meet again,
and we will soar together, on little,
Tiny Wings.

Know that little one and I are very Grateful for what you have done.
Peace
BrokenWing

Thanks Arty - i almost can't write without feeling overwhelmed with sadness.

My husband said i can't afford to feel like that [i tend to get very down & i already know how that can play with my health both mental & physical]. Matthew said we gave him a 2nd chance but i feel like i failed him.

Your words have helped considerably.

You gave that little one a fighting chance.
I never know for sure the birds I am able to release will survive, With Pigeons I find a flock of Feral Pigeons and release them there, other Pigeons will learn them how to survive, your little one will meet up with other sparrows and follow them to the back yard feeders and water, or where Mankind has discarded a few bread crumbs.
Survival will prevail sweetheart, you need to Believe this.
Now smile, You done good!
Walking with you!
Arty

I'm just seeing this now - I hope he's making it ok on his own. I agree with everyone else, Jac, that you've done well beyond what you're able to do.
