This thread is soooooo cool, I admire those that reach out to help.
Great pictures and a very awesome job at helping this little one.
Its very hard to determine how much to feed when not using a syringe, all one can do is feed to the best of there knowledge and watch the little one grow...
You Shine.

I built the new cage yesterday cause he hopped out of the old one - & he almsot immediately used the perch.
So today he's checked out the perch again - in the sunshine. He was doing squats beside the perch for a few minutes - warming up or getting his courage up - he's so sweet. He seems to like the sunshine today. It's started as a beautiful day - cold wind from the north - you can smell the evergreens in the air - clouds are coming in.
As i said in the 4th of July thread - i think i'll bring him inside tonight - with the fireworks around here.
Regarding the feeding - now i have done it for almost a week - i can see how it should be - i think. The first 2 days he ate very little - may have been the food change & fear. Now he gobbles up the food until his crop is very big. But he stops eating when he knows it's full.

He looks better in last imagethen he did in first. Hes adorable
I can remember running around my yard with towel rubbed in grass from lawn firstso as not to get human smell on them......... and trying to catch these wee ones that have left the nest too soon or have been pushed out........
Brownie is doing well - i've seen some other baby sparrows in the trees around here & i can say my little one is looking pretty nice. He does a lot of wing quivering - he can fly pretty well in his small space.
I posted this on July 7th - when we had server trouble......
The sparrow is gone. He flew out of his box on the 3rd feeding of the morning. He flew the length of the balcony & then flew over the edge. I didn't have my glasses on but i watched him until he flew around a building about a block away.
I went down directly to see if i could locate him - there are a lot of baby sparrows chirping in the trees. We looked 2 more times yesterday & then last night it rained & it's rained almost all day - felt like a sauna around here.
He wasn't eating on his own. I'd seen him pecking at the seed i put in the middle of the cage but i got the impression he was really needing the feedings.
I felt terrible - still do. I'll go out again tomorrow but unless i find a desperate baby he's gone. There's lots of park land next to the high-rises but there are also lots of dangers.
