I felt bad, but I know now that little miss independent isn't as independent as she wants me to think she is.
Typically when Sophie flies to the floor it spells mischief. So I always go get her. Sometimes we play the little aggression game, sometimes we don't.
I pick her up and walk around with her as she points her beak where she wants to go, eventually back to the play gym.
Tonight she went to the floor and ran over the the PC chair (the base is chrome so makes for a nice mirror) and I didn't pay it any attention at all until I got up a little bit later.
Oh the look I saw on Sophie's face. Go ahead tell me birds don't have emotion. I'll call you a liar. That poor girl was bummed out!! Papa did not come get her!! There she was and I ignored her!!
Man, she made me feel bad too!!
I got her and put her back on her play gym and went into the kitchen for a minute then went right back and made a production out of getting her for a bit. Everything in her attitude changed.
Now mind you, she doesn't want the attention for long, but she does want it!!

They are smarter than us....and they use it to train us, and manipulate us..........damn those birds

You are a softee Jim! Those birds are so-o lucky to be yours, you take their emotions into count, some folk don't even think the poor litttle things have emotions. Soph will forgive you I'm sure, it was a small transgression after all.

I know that animals/birds don't do 'monkey' faces like we do but they are very expressive. They cock their heads & move their bodies just so & we know what they want.

Bow & Rio stare at me like they think I'm insane - when they don't get my attention - even tho they've been running all over me. Sometimes I just have to focus on other things!
