Molly is my 5yo female ekkie. I stay up late in the basement working almost every night. I keep my birds in my dinning room which is right next to my kitchen. I've noticed this before but it was brought to my attention again. When I come upstairs, for whatever, I hear a cracking sound from the dinning room. I walked over and turned on the light. It was 11:30 at night and Molly was sitting on her food bowl eating. I laughed and thought "what a little pig." She does this often, does anyone elses?
Lara, I have one here too, that can't make it through the night without starving! Kita also plays with her toys during the middle of the night! I'm waiting for Kady to say something.
Samantha my youngest B&G is the midnight snacker here.Ever since she was a a baby she has got up during the night to eat.Maybe that's why she is such a big girl Hope you are staying warm over on your side of town,I'm so ready for summer!!!!
You know Lara, I've always laughed at those who say there is no such thing as a flying pig -- they obviously have never met an ekkie!! My Charley is the BEST eater among all of my birds -- although my caiques are a pretty close second. I'm not sure about the late night thing, but Charley has yet to meet a food he does not like!
On a different note, is your Rico your fussiest eater? My Izzy sure is. I struggle constantly to get her to eat well. Picky, picky, picky.....
My Ekkie is the same way- She eats until everything is gone- Then eats more. Whatever time of day it is, if you put food in front of her, she is hungry... They LOVE food!
Ok, so it's not unusual for Molly to be eating in the middle of the night. Geesh what a little pig. I usually pull everyones dishes at night to wash them. Tonight I put more food in Molly's for her midnight snack.
Kelly, Rico is definately my fussiest eater. He keeps me on my toes and thinking constantly with new ways to present his food. It changes almost every other week I have to come up with a new way for him to eat. The bigger the challenge for presenting his food, the more likely he is to eat it.
Michelle, I think we going to start warming up to the 20's and 30's this week. Heat wave!
