Default Diet - what are your percentages?

What percentage of the diet you feed your Eclectus is fresh? What do the fresh foods consist of?

Do you feed seeds, pellets or both for your non-fresh foods?

I ask this, as so many new people who come into the store have no clue about the importance of an Eclectus diet. A good percentage don't even feed fresh foods!!!

Thought this may be a good opportunity to discuss it and get the word out there...

my avain vet, who has 4 Ekkies, told me to feed a 80/20 diet. 80% pellet and 20% fresh. none of them pluck, tap or flip. The breeder I got Sophie from also told the same thing. Well unfortunately I like searching stuff out on line. So in the end I feed my birds 80/20. Maybe its 90/10 as to how they eat it. Thats 90 fresh fruit and veggies, sprouts, and what ever we happen to be eating for dinner. 10% pellet mix.
I don't see any reason to play with fire.

Mine prefer fresh over anything, but due to my work schedule, it's not in the cards to feed all fresh.

I guess I just wanted to stress the importance of lots of fresh foods daily - it's an absolute must with these fids.

Mikey would take fresh over anything else any day...but he isn't too picky. I try to feed atleast a 70/30 fresh/pelletandseed daily
