Just wanted say thank you for everyones support on this. It hasn't been easy and I was also worried that I'd be judged as one of those people that would just give up a bird if it got "too hard". We're all slowly getting use to not having Sandra here and Smiley gives me reports as to what she's doing too so that makes it a little easier. Between loosing my RB2 to PBFD so many years ago and now this I've made the decision that 'toos just aren't for me. The Gods are trying to say something. I'll keep with my lorikeets, Sth American brats and probably an Ekkie down the track.
Thanks again guys.

One never knows what they will encounter in life, we can all just do the best we can. And this is what you have done for your baby.

Mary, all the birds you have right now are of a similar size. If you have the room, you might want to consider an indoor aviary. I think they actually take less room than a bunch of seperate cages and the birds get so much more exercise.

We're looking at how to do extensions on the house atm. The boys are all in the one room (old cottages are romantic but not practical for a family), the dining room is my office/birdroom, so we need 2 more bedrooms and appropriate home office space for me. What we'll incorporate into the design is a day aviary under the verandah for the inside birds. Plenty of natural sun and space to play all day. The 6 berth aviary will be here by the end of the year so the quakes will get their aviary and lorikeets may end up in a suspended avairy or one of the berths so the only ones inside will be Dharma, my future Ekkie and whatever the boys decide to get or to adopt out of the babies.
Ok this has gone right off the Sandra thread now.

Sorry you are having to part with her...it sounds like you can take comfort from the fact that she is going to a lovely place. I know that doesn't lessen the heartbreak...I hope your Sandra is one happy bird and that you and your hubby will be able to visit her in her new home.

Sandra is doing very well..I don't think I did posted photos here. I will have to.. Then you will know how things have beening going. She is now is an avairy out back with her cage. For that is how she was when Mary first picked her up.. There is not to much screaming going on either. Her door is open all day long and yet she does not want to come out. She is making friends with me now. She was in love with hubby so I will have to get the photos of that. Hubby is not a bird person and she has worked that one out. For he doesnt go near her unless I get her..
