What I have researched and observed is that the BP2 is a mixture of a macaw's playfulness and cockatoo socialization. They have a very light powder compared to the other toos. When I play with Shadow I do not feel the powder I have with other cockatoos. Since we have macaws, that was a concern that we looked at. Shadow lives in the opposite side of the house with no other macaws and we have an IQ AR healthpro air cleaning system that is used in hospitals. Black Palms do well in rain forest habitat (good thing since I live in a mostly damp climate) unlike the others who prefer dry habitats. They are are very capable of keeping themselves entertained, not needing constant attention. Of course they will take as much as they can get, however! Since I have only had Shadow a short time, we shall see, but he seems to fit the description.

He's gorgeous! I'd like to know the same thing Karen asked- are their crests always raised?

His crest stays up the majority of the time, rarely back unlike the Hawkheads who only raise their head dress when they get really excited.

We did have the pleasure of playing with Shadow some and while that beak is amazingly fearsome looking allow me to tell you that i have never in my entire time with birds meet a more gentle or amazing bird in my life.Had our money situation been better the pic would have been posted by me
