Gayla! Im so happy someone could have a Helen visual for me! LMAO!! Its just like that dinner scene I swear!! LMAO. She screams at her food like monster noises! She has realized it echoes a bit so she sticks her head in the bowl, growls, pops back out and screams AAAAHHHHRRRR AAAHHHHHHRRRR!!! And your right, its not funny when your living with it until about an hour later!! lol

I would love to see a video of her growling in her food dish too. It sounds priceless But I do have to explain the curtain thing. Nelly's house is in my living room. And unfortunatel I do need curtains to keep out prying eyes(I am on bottom floor) etc. But the thing is I thought I had her cage far enough aaway from the window. Nope. Not even close. She waits till I am otherwise busy and goes around to the side and stretches her body out so she is actually holding on to the cage with one foot and grabs one corner of the curtain. And that folks is all she needs cause it is now in her hands or foot!!! I used to bug out but gave up. So now I just get inexpensive curtains and anyone who doesn't like the heck with them. Oh yeah DUST!!! sometimes my furniture looks like you could sand blast your name in it and the little pieces of feather shaft that always end up in the fish bowl!! But you know what? I wouldn't trade any of it ever!!! These little inconveniences are all forgotten when she takes her beak and rubs my cheek when I come home from a crummy day at work. GOTTA LOVE IT

We put in a new furnace with electrostatic filters and extra bells and whistles, and still full of dust.
We closed in our car port, and knocked out the side wall of our house so that the kitchen and bird room are basically one.
And you are right, just hearing Mikalia say "I love you" when I come home at night, makes it all worthwhile.

It's Friday!!!YEAH. I came home from work today and found a package on my porch from Dr. Foster & Smith. Brought it in the house and told Nelly it was for her and she raised her crest,spread out her wings and let out an ear piercing screech!! of course there were things in there for the other Fids too. So I brought the box over near her cage and she got even more excited and was hanging off her perch with one foot. Inside was a new ladder for her to chew and giant wood hanging toy which she is
"allowed" to chew and a new toy called a Tango Dango. It's even more cool in person that in the pic. Now this she gave the famous "one cockatoo eye" too as I was hanging it in her cage. The test of the new toy will come when she has to spend some time alone in her cage. So even though I don't have much to add today I am really looking forward to spending some quality TOO time this weekend and so is she!!

WOW...I am so glad I'm not allergic and I think you are a great Bird Mom to go through all that. Isn't it funny how we go though so many changes for our Fids and just an I love you or in Nelly's case putting her head down my shirt and waiting for skritches can turn us to mush

My turn to ramble! Had a cute little story about Rico today.

Rico destroyed a few toys this week. Well now there's an understatement. Anywhoo, the one toy he destroyed he ended up making little disks out of. Well, I picked all those disks up off the birdroom floor and threw them in the dishwasher last night. Well, 1st thing I do in the morning is empty the dishwasher. I got all those little disks out and put them in a pile on the countertop.

Later in the day I brought Rico in from outside and sat him on the counter. Made myself some lunch and poured myself a glass of milk. I drank most of the milk and it was in a short rocks glass. There was about 1" of milk left in there. I turned to clean up and stuff while Rico played with his Birdie Plunk on the counter. He was being so quiet. I turned to look to see what he was doing and there were three colorful disks floating in my milk. He had his head cocked sideways looking at his new floating invention. He started his little excited laughing noise he does. I just sat and watched him with a huge smile on my face. I could just see his little mind a goin! Then he started reaching in the glass with his beak and pulling them out. I decided I was done with my milk. He pulled them all out.....1....and.....2.....and......3.....and "Oh, what's this? They have milk all over them." So he sat there and licked the one. When he was done licking all the milk off, he dunked it back in the milk again and pulled it back out. I was laughing my butt off (I wish). He dunked, he licked. He dunked. He licked. It was like watching a birdie oreo's commercial!

It's saturday morning and the only sounds I hear so far are those of the birds outside. The teils and keets are still sleeping I think...they are covered. Nelly has just finished her morning ration of pine nuts and is quietly putting all the feathers back into place that might have been messed up during the night. Wow how scarey is this all the Fids quiet at one time. But then the gurgle of the coffee pot starts telling me it's done and I hear the first whistle from the teils. The keets begin to chatter. But the TOO is still quiet. Hmmm I peek around the corner to see why and there she is trying to open the curtains!!! NO I tell her and she gives me a look as if to say"and why not?" But she goes back to her perch and has decided there are a few more feathers to fix. So I quietly get up and fix that first cup of coffee. The first sip is always the best. I continue to search the forums and read but I feel as if I am being watched. I look around and of course no one is there. Read a few more lines and still that feeling. I should have known. Nelly quietly came down from her cage and was standing at the edge of the carpet just staring with her foot up. I guess the smell of the coffee was just to much for her. So together we are searching the forums. How many people can say they start the day with their best friend on their shoulder?
