It seems someone stole my sweet little girl and replaced her with an angry too! Now that its warm out we let her have breakfast in the yard with us on weekends. She loves to hop on the glass table and scream "Hello allo! Hi ooooooin!" Now the next comment is not to offend anyone who may be visually challenged. For anyone who has seen the classic movie Helen Keller with Patty Duke, you may understand why we call her Little Helen at breakfast. She runs plate to plate and ruins our meals. Scattereing our food all over the table. We say, "Oh Helen!" Us old folks should be able to appreciate that one!
Alex my RB2 had sweetened the most and became my cuddle buddy. See Alex the Pink Shark Monster story for reference on him! Anyway, its been a few months, but he's back to the practice of being "THE AMPUTATOR!". Boy did he get me good the other night. Then went on to ask for kisses. Sure, Ill kiss ya after that.
Thats all Ive got! |
Leigh, how old is Afa? |

I now have a chain and padlock on the entry door to her cage and that works fine. But now I am really struggling with her escaping through her side food doors. She has totally mastered twirling the disc that holds the door shut -- she has learned to flip the disc and push the door to get out.
So I drilled a hole through the disc and door and put a screw through it. Now let's see her get out of there!!
When I got up this morning and serviced her cage, there she sat on her perch inside the cage holding the long screw in her foot and gnawing on it!! I guess she got so caught up in having gotten hold of the screw that she forgot to escape as the disc was in place and the door was shut. I could not for the life of me figure out how she got the screw out of the door from inside.
So I put the screw back in place and then hid to watch what she did. What a stinker!! She took about 3 minutes to unscrew the thing with her beak and then stuck her foot through the bars and jostled the screw out of the hole, took it in her foot and brought it back inside the cage with her!!! Can you believe it?!?
So I have now screwed the screw in on an angle so it is basically jammed in the hole and she has not been able to remove it. I've been working from home today and have been able to keep an eye on her. She is just too smart for her own good! | OMG, what a little turd. You should get a video of that one! |

Poor baby was free of it for a month - he was in 7th heaven and like Leigh's RB2 turned into a sweet cuddly baby allowing me to pet him all over. Then one morning last week I went to get him out of the cage and found pink feathers all over the bottom of the cage, plus he started chewing on his breast again. Back went on the collar and away went the sweetness! He's really pissed that he's back in the collar - runs away from me and jumps off the cage when I get near. He does step up from the floor and gives me a kiss - but that means he wants back on or in his cage. If I try to hold him he jumps off! So now my vet has him scheduled for a "Punch Biopsy" on July 6th. Hopefully this will give us some answers - everything else has come back negative. If it turns out to be behavioral then I guess he wears the collar for God knows how long to break the habit. UGH! Will keep you all posted. | Pat,
Is the "punch biopsy" to test for allergies? |
