Re: OK Guys, I've been asked to foster a Citron Cockatoo DUH! I somehow missed the last page of this thread, so disregard my posting to late!

Hope I'm not butting in, but thought I'd give voice to a thought I had.
Have you thought about using a smaller cage for the time being (if the rescue has any available) while you foster her in your home? I can understand how there might not be any available when they go with the birds upon adoption, but just a thought. The other thought I had was that it could be traumatic to be taken away from her "family", and be put in a new/different cage on top of that. Stupid of me to argue against my own point, just trying to think of what is best for this little girl.
Hope something works out to help prevent this girl from suffering at the hands of an uninformed person (somewhat like the original owners).
I guess it would be rude of you to ask them if they've ever thought of getting rid of their kids instead? Just kidding. But that is how I feel when I read about someone deciding they "just don't have time" for their bird anymore. So sad.
On the bright side, they are doing the right thing by going to a rescue and not listing the poor thing on Craigs list.
(((banging head against brick wall)))
Please keep us updated!
