Default Non-hormonal Toos!

Just thought I'd add my experience with my own Cockatoos. Sunny, M2, who is now 26 yrs. old, has never shown any changes in her personality - whether it's mating and breeding season or not, she's an absolute sweetheart, has never biten anyone in her entire life - I am truly blessed by her.
Heidi, G2, is now 8 yrs. old, and likewise she has a very sweet temperment all year round - never biten anyone either.
Widget, RB2, well he's only 1 1/2 yrs. old - I guess it will have to be a wait and see with him - hopefully he's as sweet as the girls, but you never know with these "male" hormones!

Lover Boy who is somewhere in his 20's (hey Pat when the heck did I adopt him? He was 21 then) is a steady eddy also.
Sammie - late teens maybe is also steady as a rock
Well, instead of going through them all,
Gabby U2 - early teens - is the only boy I need to watch out for
Sheela G2 - wild caught age unknown - is a quivering mass of I don't know what during her season.
Everyone else is just themselves.

This is very encouraging information from someone here with a soon to be 4-year old female 'too. I only hope that Izzy, too, will glide past her hormonal periods without a great change in her behavior and personality. She is such a doll.

Many birds if you have them all their lives and been brought up right, sometimes will not show "bad" behavior. But many "second hand" birds will because they have been truly misunderstood and thats why they are usually "second hand" birds

I for one, have a hormonal TOO, LOVE him to death, honestly, I do! He shows perfect signs, and I wouldnt want to change him for the world. The only thing I do not like is his feather chewin/over preening. But I am sure, with time, he will eventually over come this.

Other than that, his behavior is 100% fine and acceptable to me

Did I go off topic?

Ha ha, nothing concerning cockatoos is EVER off topic in our little corner of the world. We are as others have said, very special people cause not everyone can handle a Too!
We wander around a lot, and then get back where we started and then wander a little more.
BTW, welcome to PC.

p.s. of the 10 birds I live with, all but one have had previous homes. They range from 10-25+ years old. All the 2's are DNA sexed males with the exception of Sheela a DNA sexed female G2. The boys are M2 and U2

I dont understand it.. I can handle Bokka more than ADHA and ADD kids, and understand TOOS more than any other burd out there.. I just find them one of the easiest birds to live with.. perhaps.. I shouldnt be saying this incase a nebwie sees and reads this?

Perhaps I was a TOO in my previous life?

I think with cockatoos, you either are or are not a cockatoo person. If you are a cockatoo person, then life is good. If not, then it isn't.

I cant say I have been as lucky.. My U2 Alfredo gets very hormonal and for him this means calling to my other toos throughout the day, being protective over his cage and his food dishes, and eventually breaking out of his cage, and releasing his favorite toos. A few months ago when my dad went to change out the toys in alfredos cage he darted from the back of the cage and clamped onto my dads nose, and would not let go. But other than what I call his few months in "heat" he is a perfectly behaved angel, lol. (well at least I think so) My boyfriend's RB2 is the quietest and the most curious and has yet to display any hormonal behaviors...knock on wood. I couldn't imagine life without them...someday I'd like to have a black palm...someday
