I helped rehome a Citron-crested Cockatoo several months ago to my girlfriend. Her name is Atticus and she is 15 yrs old (DOH 8/24/92). There were some issues in my friends house and she asked me if I wanted Atticus & of course I said YES!

So, Atticus is living with us now. I purchased her a new cage and Andy & I put it together on Friday night. On Saturday night, after work, we went and picked her up. She is a feather plucker & damager. She hates to to sprayed with anything.

I forgot my camera at work so tonight I'll post pictures of her.

BTW: I chased her b*tt around yesterday and made her, let me spray her with "Feather-In". She is also getting "Featheriffic" on her food too. I'm hoping that she'll stop. There was a TON of stress in my friends house (her boyfriend) & he moved out this past weekend. Now she can work on herself.

Glad you were able to help both Atticus and your friend. A "calm" home will assist with Atticus's transition. Keep us updated with pics!

Congrats on your new baby!!!!. Citron-crested "too's are so fun!. I hope she settles in soon and stops plucking. People dont realize that birds do feel the tension and issues in the home. Cant wait to see pics!.

This maybe TMI, but, I personally think that her boyfriend my bi-polar. He was happy one minute and angry the next.

So far Atticus doesn't like grown men....but loves my sons (15 & 13). She also is just OK with me, but that probably due to the fact that I clipped her wings and gave her a bath. Once I get her and I have to lock her on the outside of her cage.....she is lovie as heck.

oh atticus, bless your little heart and kudos to you valerie for taking in this little guy, i know he will fit in great with your crew!

I think that she is a little underweight. She is a really good eater though. She wants people food (green beans, corn, banana, most all fruit & vegies) and seed as a last. She also loves popcorn.

Atticus is doing good. She loves my youngest son! She walks up to him ....she will walk up to my oldest son too. BUT, when me or Andy show up and talk to her.....she runs from us. Any suggestions? I have never had/met a bird who would do that.
