Looks like he will be quite a challenge but has a good nature so I'm sure you will make quick progress with him. Good Luck!

It sounds like you are making great strides with your new friend. We have taken some in that it takes months before they begin to trust. Thanks again for working with the bird and I hope you will consider keeping him.

Oh Gary, it is not me you must convince. I am ready to start teaching him "mommie". It is Quincy I have to convince, he sees me as not having the time, Losing me to rescue when we are just getting The Bird Talks up. I'm working on it though. I just can't stand him going back.... It WILL break my heart!!!!

I was wondering if years of being 'inside' has a tole on some types of birds.
We've had her since early winter. So now we have not brought her outside. But she, at her former home, had an outside avairy that she spent her spring and summe rmonths in for several hours in the day. So she isnt particularly new to the outdoor world. She just starts to over preen if she is kept to herslef. She isnt interested in many toys at all. but we're hoping that'll change. Plus we're getting 2 DBL macaw cages, 1 for our TOOs and 1 for our South American fids. So we're hoping she may change and he rhabit will break. We just have to keep her flight feather moist and not too dry. So we spritz her several times throughout the day

Time is a challenge always. Start teaching him to say "mommie"!

Bless your heart! Thank you for taking him on. I have a female Moluccan who came from a breeder. She never had human interaction but she is coming around nicely and learning to trust, we still cant handle her after 2 years without her stressing but we see alot of improvement. Such a labor of love.

Tamaran2~

Have you ever used a product from Avitech, called "Feather-In" OR "Featheriffic"?? They are wonderful products. I use it and so does Jeanne....and we swear by it. So do many other people that we know, that own or rescue birds.

I also sell them in my store, due to the fact that I use them. If you are interested, please PM me and I'll be happy to email you information.

I appreciate hearing that you have taken this cockatoo in and making every attempt to help this bird get back to good health. I know that this bird will appreciate everything that you do and I appreciate the fact that you have taken the cockatoo in. I'm really glad to find out that there is one more person out there that really cares, thanks again. Look forward to more updates.
