Just a quick link to the harness. It is wonderfully amazing and I highly recommmend it over the Feather Tether (which my guys dismantle in no time at all)

Talking Re: First flight outside...

Maybe if enough members live near each other they could rent some space to fly in. You can rent spaces to free fly birds indoors ...like at gyms. There's also free flight events allowing spectators around the country if you're into that type of thing.

Recall training is great enrichment and healthy fun even if you never intend on taking the harness off your bird.

[To do so, in fact, is dangerous without an official trainer working with you and like committing to olympics training (for outdoor free flight).

My Piper is >85% on recall depending on the queue....notice her mammoth wing span when negotiating this tight space?

This is my ultimate goal.. to be able to let my guys out for free flying outside. There is a training available at the Oregon Zoo this summer that I am going to particiapte in. I am very excited. I already have access to a large warehouse for inside free flying.

Awesome that sounds like fun! My poor Piper sits at the window, stares outside at every leaf passing by. Sadly she'll never get to use her skills since she'd blow down the manhole!!

Deb have you joined any free flight lists yet? It's pretty important to learn the food management techniques as early as possible imo. There's alot of other stuff to learn too like about native birds that may be out there.

Big bonus about the warehouse.

Deb you have Cockatoo Downs located in your area. Chris Shank puts on a wonderful free flight seminar every year- thats something you might be interested in. 10+ acres of land to free fly your birds.
