Like any other pet, some people don't think before buying a pet and then decide to get rid of them. Except for Tobi every pet I've ever had was a rescued animal.

Thank you, birdbrain. That is the choice I would make and highly encourage others looking to add to their flock as well, a rescue who needs a forever home.

My seven (all "used" birds) are sitting outside immensely amused by watching the cats and I playing with hairball treats inside and their neighbors dive bombing through the raindrops on the other sides (they all can stay under the shelter, but the gentle rain is just about the same as my mister and much more consistent than I can ever generate).

I really do think tiels are the ultimate Zen masters.

If you are thinking of bringing any bird or animal into your home, please do some homework, realize that when bringing any animal into your home its a lifetime commitment, giving the animal up down the road isn't an option of yours.
There are many animals hoping and praying for the FOREVER HOME at your local shelter and or Humane Society.
Never buy any animal on a whim, all animals are different and as unique as you and I, each has there own needs.
IMO the Cockatiel is the number 2 throw away bird, running close behind the Parakeet, maybe if these birds were not sold so cheaply there lives would not be thrown around as if they have no value.
And if and when a petition comes accross your desk demanding stricter laws that govern the breeding of these birds, SIGN IT.
The Cockatiel is a wonderful little bird, they deserve better.
