When we got our green cheek we were told that they were not the best talkers. Talking was nice but was not high on our list of things in deciding to get him. Well he has just turned 2 and has somewhere between 40-45 words. He combines them into small sentences. They seem to be fitting to the situations like thank-you, Simon's mommies baby boy/bird. So how many words can we expect him to learn. He is our first baby but we haven't found much in the way of material on how many words they learn. Others have told us that he has a lot of words for a green cheek. We spend a lot of time with him and he seem to pick up words very fast. He calls Leo when he comes home from work saying Daddy dances and then cracker as he know dad always gives a treat when he get home. So our new fid Keke the B&G well she just hollers when Leo gets home and after every holler Simon will in a loud voice will say Keke Daddy as if trying to teach her the right word. It is so cute he is so honest with people. For some reason he doesn't like our oldest son when he lived with us and would say come here and if Dave ask why he would say I'll bite you or I'll eat you with everyone else he usually says step-up and he will bite him at every chance he gets. Now that he has moved out he is ok with him being here but he still cautious with the bird.
There you go, who knows which birds are great talkers. They surprise us every day. I think it has to do with their socialization rather than whether or not they can talk. Good job, sweet smart Simon! Thanks for sharing.
