I told Margaret that I think you need a lot more bonding time with Kira before getting another one.... and poor Maxwell. Surely he will need to come live at my house!

That's okay Kathie! lol Awwwww that was nice of her, she is wonderful too! I am so lucky to have her as a fellow employee and a friend. Yes, they are both smitten that's for sure, she told me all about Joe and how he can't wait to bring him home. A lot more bonding time with Kira is right! I felt like I took one step forward and two steps back with her this week, but I am learning as I go, so hopefully all will turn out well. As far as Maxwell, he is just too cute. I still have hope for him. At least his barking doesn't seem to teriffy Kira like it did when I first got her. Now she just gives him this look like "not you again" and then I swear she barks back at him. LOL

She's a really nice lady. Both of them - they make a great couple. It's so refreshing knowing for sure that the babies are going to a great home. (Now Maxwell would try to convince me otherwise if he had his druthers!)

That Caique baby will have a wonderful home with Margaret that's for sure. You mean Maxwell the bird lover! LOL

Cool Re: Pics of My New Baby Kira

Kira is a real sweetie. but I think I'll ask a question in the forum.

I spend a bit of time with her over the weekend. Kira did some walking up and down my arm and walked across my shoulders and sometimes would sit there for awhile making a bunch of different sounds. I imagine it’s because she was happy or just trying to communicate with me or something. LOL But that is not my question. When I’m lying on the bed, Kira snuggled up against me and I petted her. After awhile her eyes closed and her little foot came up and rested on top of a hole under her beek. I’m wondering what the purpose of the hole is and if it has a name. I know her nostrils are on top of her beek. This hole is on her body right below the beek. And where are the ears? ;o) The bird and I seemed to have bonded, but I am trying to understand things about the bird that I’m unfamiliar with. I know very little about birds but am learning.

Thanks,
Morty

Welcome Morty Smock. The hole/dent under the beak is part of the throat /crop system. The ears are a little behind, down from the eyes. If your birdie is relaxing with puffed up feathers you will be able to see ear holes. It is just a hole they do not have external ear flaps like us. A lot of birds really enjoy gentle rubbing over the ears.

Welcome to PC Morty Smock! LOL You're crazy. Now Kathie will have to sell you a bird. I know, you have Kira when you are here.

Thanks 2horse. Now Bella62 knows the answer to the question she didn't ask, so I asked it for her. Yes Bella62, I'm Kira's daddy (well, sort of) and I like to visit her and you. But you can also bring her to visit daddy. I'm sure she'd be glad to see me. Look at her, she can't wait!

Too bad you can't housebreak her like you did with Maxwell. Gives new meaning to the phrase, feeling pooped after work.

Morty
