Default The insiders

Wasn't sure where to put this but figure the suns are predominant so here will do.

The inside birds were all out today as I was doing cage scrub. Well total chaos reigned. Diego and Dharma refused to have anything to do with anyone else, the quakes just got into everything (my hair, everyone elses face, the bucket of cleaning water,) , Pip decided he hated the quakes and Olly was an antisociable little snot who refused to even get out her cage. A fun time was had by all. Anyway, more pics...

5 out of 6 almost socialising (Olly was still in her cage)

Dharma and Diego (ain't love grand)

The blue brats finally playing with something they were allowed to.

How fun!! I love seeing different species all hanging out together!

Tomorrow morning, Chaska comes in here to meet Ixchel and Yaxche! I will be with them every minute, hope it goes well! Sunday, I will bring the Princesses in. The Tiels will be fine, I might put Ixchel in first with them.

Sorry Angie, took me a bit to get back to this. The GCCS have been in their suspended for a few months now. Juanita still come up for kisses or to rip your lip off depending on her mood and Fidel is still as fiesty and protective as ever. These guys will also be going out at the end of year when my 6 berth aviary arrives from my Dads, although ideally I'd like to keep Dharma and Diego inside for most of the year, just in the aviary around breeding tme. Not sure how feasible this is.
Any idea? Would really appreciate input on that one.

I did not realise it has been so long, last time I remember they were still picking on Dharma. A sun can breed at 2 years but they not really ready till about 4. They forget to sit on eggs and take care of babies if they too young, also there are clear eggs. I dont know if you can succesfully move inside to out for part of the year, because they will take time to settledown outside and wait for your visits, I guess it would depend on a bond between you Dharma and Diego. Suns can breed inside your home while still being pets if they are comfortable enough. What I intend to do with Peanut is allow him a female and see what happens inside my home if he chooses to breed. You dont have to make any decision about Dharma for a long time yet and then maybe she makes it for you. Peanut sleeps in a cardboard box which I have to change for new sometimes due to d.i.y. home improvements. I have hand raised suns that are breeders, in the winter they are real friendly and tame and yet in the breeding season they are the most nest defensive of the lot as they are brave enough to try a direct divebomb to see me out the aviary. Here a breeding season can last 8 months do you really want to lose your pets for that length of time if they are outside? I would think for Dharma give her a nest box attached outside her cage. She can even have it now to sleep and play in. My breeder suns sleep in boxes all year round.

They're all so cute! It's so great that they can all play together like that.
