Default I had no idea there were so many

I had no idea that there are nearly 100 species of conures.
Bee; Which species are the most common as pets?
Also, do you have any info on the Pearly Conure?

some people say the conures are the most "successful" parrots - if you want to call it that - because there are sooo many different sub-species of conures... however, the term conure is somewhat misleading itself as it does not reflect a scientific grouping, but is used as description of a group of parrots mostly in aviculture

only a few are commonly kept as pets, though a wide variety is bred. some species don't breed well in captivity, and are therefore rare in homes.
the most common ones as pets are definitely the greencheek conures (regular and mutations), the sun conures, jenday (and sunday), nandays, blue-crown conures, dusky-headed conure, mitred and cherry-headed conures, patagonian conures, peach-fronted and peach-faced conure, maroon and crimson bellied conures, painted conure (though that's already less common since they don't breed very well in captivity), and black-capped conures.

i don't know much about the pearly conure, and i have my books at home - i'll look into it (now you sparked my curiosity )
