Default Here we go again

Ok, so here is the story. Back in February of 08 we purchased Juno our Sun from the local breeder/pet store. There were 2 in his clutch and we went with Juno. Everyday we visited and every day we asked if anyone had come to see his clutch mate and were always told no. 3 months went by and we were finally able to take Juno home, but his clutch mate was still there. I had gone back to the store a month or so later and there was a couple visiting his clutch mate and after talking to them for so long they thought they were probably going to take him, which they did.

Almost 1 year later, there is an ad on Craigslist for a Sun Conure here where I live, but they wanted 600.00 rehoming fee w/cage. We emailed them and explained our situation with our birds and she is the one who figured out that her Sun (Levi) and our Juno were clutch mates, we offered her 300.00 since we didn't really need the cage and because they really wanted to see him go to a good and loving home and to have him with his clutch mate they decided to take our offer.

We are going to visit with him a few times before we take him to make sure that he is going to be a good fit with us, but it is pretty certain we are going to take him.

How ironic is all of this? After a year do you think they will recoginze each other? We are going to have him sexed so that should Juno and Levi share a cage in the future we want to make absolute certain that they are of the same sex so they do not breed. We certainly do not want any accidents with that regard.

Yes, the world is not such a large place after all, isn't it? And how very fortuituous that you happened to see the ad and how very nice of them to reduce the price! But no, they will not recognize one another so good plan on having it sexed because, if they are of opposite genders, they will mate.

yes, I am very glad that they lowered the price and can't wait to go visit with him/her probably tonight. I put my Sun and Nanday together before I had the Nanday sexed, then decided I don't want any babies so I seperated them again until the results came back on the Nanday and since we found out they were the same sex we put them back together. But definitely do not want to take any chances here. That would be awful.
