Default Feather Loss

Seems like Frankie has been loosing a lot of feathers lately. He has lost three just this week, all of which are about 2 to 2.5 inches long. He isn't preening himself anymore than usual and doesn't act stressed or anything. Is this normal?

I think someone in the northern hemisphere needs to answer, but I think it is molting season for him. During molting it can look like a pillow fight happened with no patches on the bird and you wonder where all the feathers came from.

Are you talking about her flight feathers? Mine lose one occasionally and it is perfectly normal. I have three out of five molting right now...yuck.

Frankie is certainly adorable and you both look very happy in the picture. My Quaker is molting all over the place right now. He has so many new feathers coming in he looks like a pin cushion when I give him a shower, lol
