Well, yesterday the babies all came out of the nest. They were out on various perches all day and then all three finally decide to settle in..........
....the seed dish. So, I put in two more small seed dishes so that Lucy could actually get to some seed to that didn't have a baby sitting in it. They are all out today though.
The clothespin idea is worth a try. I'll try that next time she is ready to lay.

Hi Deb, I was so glad to see your post and your beautiful pictures!! We are in love with them too and are planning to buy some in the very near future! I am reading as much as I can find right now about them.
What can you tell me about raising Gouldians Finches? What is the best diet for them? How long do they live usually? Is it better to have 4-6 Finches rather than just two? How often do they usually have clutches? Do you need to keep them separated so they don't continually have babies or are they best left alone and have as many clutches as they want?
